FAIRFAX, VA. June 24, 2010 - Shiner Roofing, Siding and Windows (ShinerRoofing.com), a leading roofing company in Northern Virginia, announced today its participation in an event which raised nearly $30,000 for emergency food programs in Northern Virginia. The 7th Annual Food for Others and First Potomac Realty Trust Golf Tournament, held on May 24, 2010 in Springfield, VA, is dedicated to raising money for Food for Others, Northern Virginia's primary safety net for those in need of food and shelter. This was company's 5th consecutive year supporting the event.

According to Food for Others, Northern Virginia faces a poverty rate of about 5%. This means, based on U.S. Census figures, that more than 90,000 people are living in poverty, 30 percent of which are children.

"Food for Others distributes more than two million pounds of food in one year and serves as a major pillar of support for hungry families all over Northern Virginia," said Kevin Shiner, CEO of Shiner Roofing, Siding and Windows.
